Be Outstanding By Doing The Dishes

I was reading a post over at Swollen Thumb Entertainment about self-improvement through your work and it got me thinking…
Why stop with work?
What if I told you you could make yourself a better person simply by doing the dishes? I bet you’d pick up the phone and get the mental institution over to my house ASAP. But is it really that crazy of an idea?
Why not take every action in your life as an opportunity to better yourself? There are so many ways to do this, the possibilities are endless. Let’s stick with the example of doing the dishes. Sure, it’s a boring task that at the surface seems like nothing more than a routine chore that has to be done. But let’s look at it a little deeper. So doing the dishes is boring? Let it be a lesson on how to make things enjoyable. It takes too long? Learn how to be more efficient. You don’t want to do it? Maybe that’ll help you deal with that presentation you don’t want to do. The water’s too hot? Learn to deal with pain. Don’t like the grease and grime? It’ll help you handle disgusting and uncomfortable situations. I think you get the picture…
Use Every Opportunity You Have
The possibilities are literally endless. From mowing the lawn, to sitting through that mind-numbing lecture, to raising your kids, you can take advantage of every single thing you do and improve yourself. Just think, how much better of a person would you be if every second of your life was dedicated to it?
Don’t Wait
Don’t wait for an opportunity to come by. You don’t have to be at a convention with world renowned gurus to make your life better. Stop making excuses. This is such a difficult hurdle for me, especially with things like my diet. I always tell myself, “Oh, it’s ok you can start tomorrow. Why not take this last day to indulge yourself in that slice of pizza? Oh and don’t forget the cakes, cookies, chips, soda…” That day turns into two, which turns into weeks then months and before you know it, you’re worse off than you were when you said you were going to start! Procrastination is not an option, start NOW. Don’t wait to take action or you never will.
So, what are you waiting for?! Take action and become outstanding!

Yeah, you got the idea. Self improvement can be found in every facet of your life. It’s like the people who choose to spend their time playing video games or watching TV shows. Eventually, they become very knowledgeable at those things. The same would be true if they applied themselves to other things. Whatever you apply yourself to, you will become more efficient at or more skilled at.
Thanks for the link luv too!

Anytime man!
Yup, and even if you do choose to spend your time doing those things like video games or TV, you can use that to become more efficient at other things. You can use it as an exercise to sharpen your mind or your critical thinking, or anything.
